I searched the Internet for lists of the best Matthew McConaughey movies of all time. Criteria included the movies being ranked, not just listed, and generally created by groups, whether teams or committees or based on general public voting (like Ranker.com).

I was able to find 28 lists of his movies. I took the 28 lists and added all their content into a spreadsheet, noting the rank of every film or TV show. I ended up averaging the rankings each movie got and dividing that average by a factor of the number of lists that movie was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists. The complete spreadsheet is attached at the bottom.

The movies that were on the most lists (out of 28) were:

  • Dallas Buyers Club (2013) – all 28 lists
  • Mud (2012) – 26 lists
  • Dazed and Confused (1993) – 25 lists
  • The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) – 25 lists
  • Interstellar (2014) – 23 lists
  • Magic Mike (2012) – 22 lists
  • The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) – 21 lists
  • A Time to Kill (1996) – 20 lists
