The following list is a snapshot of society’s current opinions of the 150 best surf songs of all time.
Surf music is a genre of rock music associated with surf culture, particularly in Southern California. It was especially popular from 1958 to 1964 in two major forms: instrumental surf, characterized by reverb-heavy electric guitars that evoke the sound of crashing waves, and vocal surf, which incorporated vocal harmonies.
I averaged 18 different ranked lists of “Best surf songs of all time” to get this definitive compilation. See my Methodology page for the research process that was used, including all 18 lists that were averaged.
