I searched the Internet for ranked lists of the best National Lampoon movies of all time. Criteria included the movies being ranked, not just listed, and generally created by groups, whether teams or committees or based on general public voting (like Ranker.com).

I was able to find 12 lists. I took the 12 lists and added all their content into a spreadsheet, noting the rank of every film. I averaged the rankings each movie got and divided that average by a factor of the number of lists that movie was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists. The complete spreadsheet is attached at the bottom.

The movies that were on the most lists (out of 12) were:

  • National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1985) – all 12 lists
  • Van Wilder (2002) – all 12 lists
  • Vegas Vacation (1997) – all 12 lists
  • National Lampoon’s Animal House (1978) – 11 lists
  • National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983) – 10 lists
  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989) – 10 lists
  • Loaded Weapon 1 (1993) – 10 lists
  • Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj (2006) – 10 lists
