I searched the Internet for lists of the best James Bond movies of all time. Criteria included the movies being ranked, not just listed, and generally created by groups, whether teams or committees or based on general public voting (like Ranker.com).

I was able to find 59 lists. Some ranked “all” the movies as of the posting date, while other just listed the “best” ones. I took the 59 lists and added all their content into a spreadsheet, noting the rank of every film. I ended up averaging the rankings each movie got and dividing that average by a factor of the number of lists that movie was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists. The complete spreadsheet is attached at the bottom. (I’m not including links to all the lists because there are just so many, but you can get the links in the attached spreadsheet.)

The movies that were on the most lists (out of 59) were:

  • Goldfinger (1964) – all 59 lists
  • Skyfall (2012) – 58 lists
  • Casino Royale (2006) – 57 lists
  • From Russia with Love (1963) – 56 lists
  • Dr. No (1962) – 55 lists
  • The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) – 55 lists
  • GoldenEye (1995) – 55 lists
  • Thunderball (1965) – 55 lists
  • On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969) – 54 lists
