Sesame Street has different versions in quite a few other countries. The character of Big Bird often has a different look or even species. Sometimes it’s a hedgehog or bear, but fills the same role as Big Bird and uses a full-body costume.

He is a giant yellow meerkat that speaks English and Zulu.


Nimnim – Egypt (Alam Simsim)
“nimnim” translates to “tiny”


No’man – Kuwait (Iftah Ya Simsim)
He is a camel.


Pino – Netherlands (Sesamstraat)


Poupas – Portugal (Rua Sésamo)


Samson – Germany (Sesamstrasse)
He is a bear that fills a role similar to Big Bird, but there is a Big Bird equivalent called Bibo in Germany, too.
