I searched the Internet for lists of the best episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Criteria included the episodes being ranked, not just listed and generally created by groups, whether teams or committees or based on general public voting (like Ranker.com).

I found 18 different ranked lists online of “best Star Trek The Next Generation episodes.” Then I averaged the rankings each episode got and divided that average by a factor of the number of lists that episode was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists. The complete spreadsheet is attached at the bottom.

The episodes that were on the most lists (out of 18):

  • The Best of Both Worlds: Part 1 (S03 E26) – all 18 lists
  • The Inner Light (S05 E25) – all 18 lists
  • The Best of Both Worlds: Part 2 (S04 E01) – 17 lists
  • All Good Things… (S07 E25) – 16 lists
  • Yesterday’s Enterprise (S03 E15) – 16 lists
  • The Measure of a Man (S02 E09) – 16 lists
  • Chain of Command, Part II (S06 E11) – 15 lists
  • Tapestry (S06 E15) – 14 lists
  • Darmok (S05 E02) – 14 lists
