I searched the Internet for lists of the best episodes of Cheers. Criteria included the episodes being ranked, not just listed, covering the entire run, not just lists of episodes featuring one actor, and generally created by groups, whether teams or committees or based on general public voting (like Ranker.com).

I found 10 different ranked lists online of “best Cheers episodes.” Then I averaged the rankings each episode got and divided that average by a factor of the number of lists that episode was on. The lowest score meant a high ranking average on many lists. The complete spreadsheet is attached at the bottom.

The episodes that were on the most lists (out of 10):

  • I Do, Adieu (S05 E26) – all 10 lists
  • Abnormal Psychology (S05 E04) – 9 lists
  • What Is… Cliff Clavin? (S08 E14) – 9 lists
  • Thanksgiving Orphans (S05 E09) – 8 lists
  • An Old-Fashioned Wedding, Part 1 (S10 E25) – 8 lists
  • The Showdown, Part 2 (S01 E22) – 8 lists
